Jennifer and Emmanuel Anaya
Five or so years ago, Carmen Anaya from Aguila approached us and said, "I heard you gave violin lessons - my son has been bugging me to play the violin since he was four years old". Right away we put Manny in lessons and he began to learn the violin.
His sister, Jenny brought her guitar to practice with him. One evening as the tiny first group of Wickenburg string students were playing "Row, row your boat", Jenny looked up and said "I want to learn the cello". An instrument was found for her and she progressed rapidly.
It turned out that Jennifer also had a beautiful singing voice and her music lessons led her to decide on a career in music.
Manny (whom you may have seen collecting tickets at the Phoenix Symphony Concert) now plays violin with the WCO and the Phoenix Symphony Symphonettes and Jennifer is studying music and voice at the ASU School of Music. Next year, Jenny will be singing in the chorus of the Arizona Opera. The WCO has awarded her two consecutive scholarships and will do everything it can to continue to help her in her musical career.
Manny takes violin lessons from a member of the Phoenix Symphony and excels in scholastics and sports.
